What is 29 Ore?

29 Ore is a home-grown company, set out to celebrate the power of Copper, in all its incredible ways. The underdog for many years, it came to our attention reading an article on research into copper and its powers, the more we delved the more we found, the more we questioned the more science we discovered. We intend to offer Copper products for your health, home, garden, pets, life etc. Copper is alive and we want to share the knowledge and natural powers as far and wide as we can. We are also dedicated to raising the living conditions and helping the communities connected to Copper.

What is Copper?

Copper, also known as “red gold”, because of its color, is a metal with exceptional properties in terms of its electrical and thermal conductivity, ductility and resistance to corrosion (due to a first brown and then green or green-blue patina that spontaneously appears on the surface forms). It is used in all areas of industrial and civil construction because it is easy to process, extremely ductile and malleable. Like its alloys, copper is fully recyclable and has a very high recovery value. It can be combined with other metals to form numerous metal alloys (estimated to be at least 400), the best known being bronze (copper + tin) and brass (copper + zinc). The antimicrobial properties of copper make it possible to curb the multiplication of bacteria and viruses and to combat their spread on surfaces.

How does Copper kill germs?

Copper has a free electron in its outer orbital shell of electrons that easily takes part in oxidation-reduction reactions (which also makes the metal a good conductor). As a result, Schmidt says, it becomes a “molecular oxygen grenade.” Silver and gold don’t have free electrons, so they are less reactive.

Copper kills in other ways as well, according to Bill Keevil, who has published papers on the effect. When a microbe lands on copper, ions blast the pathogen like an onslaught of missiles, preventing cell respiration and punching holes in the cell membrane or viral coating and creating free radicals that accelerate the kill, especially on dry surfaces. Most importantly, the ions seek and destroy the DNA and RNA inside a bacteria or virus, preventing the mutations that create drug-resistant superbugs.

Which germs are killed by Copper?

The scientific literature confirms that copper can eliminate or inactivate various types of bacteria, fungi and viruses. Notable ones include E. Coli bacteria, influenza, MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus, Rotavirus, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Legionella, and Coronavirus (including SARS-CoV2). Press link for more information. You may also see something referred to as "microbial copper" – this is all copper, as all copper is microbial. In the last few decades, many scientific studies have confirmed these properties and copper is now frequently used in different settings, including hospitals or private households.

Is Copper dangerous to humans or children?

Absolutely not, on the contrary. Copper is a necessary element for our metabolism and must also be included in our diet. Thanks to their antibacterial and antiviral properties, copper and its alloys reduce the number of pathogens and the resulting risk of infection for humans.

Your children can play with your Copper Slice too. It’s a pathogen killer so very good at cleaning those little grubby fingers, not to mention a distraction and possible fidget play thing. Only dangerous if ingested or stuck up a nostril!

How long should I massage my Copper Slice in my hand for?

For as long as you like, so just rub away! The longer the better … but a few minutes should do the job.

Can I pass my Copper around to my friends & family?

Yes, of course. This is a pathogen killer, so share it around and let other people benefit from its natural powers... not to mention the therapeutic power of massaging it in your hands.

Can I rub my Copper Slice on other parts of my body?

Knock yourself out! But on a serious note, rub it wherever you want. Rub it on cold sores (herpes virus), verrucas, warts, anything fungal, spots, cuts and wounds. It is a natural pathogen killer, which means it will help kill bacteria, germs and fungi.

Do I still need to wash my hands or use hand sanitiser?

NO, treat your slice as a hand sanitiser. Use it when you want to clean your hands but don't have access to soap and water. When you arrive at a coffee shop, are out and about doing the shopping, after pushing the shopping trolley or being in public places. Take a few minutes rubbing your slice in your hands and practise being in the moment, this is an amazing practice to get into for mental health as well as pathogen zapping.

Can my Copper Slice stop me from getting Covid?

No,  Covid is a virus that can be inhaled and we don’t want to stop you breathing, however it gives you a fighting chance of not catching it. If you keep your slice by your side and use it whenever you feel it would be wise, you will be amazed how instinctive you become about putting yourself at risk of spreading or catching a virus or germ. Use your common sense, be instinctive, but most of all reduce your level of fear. A strong immune system and the power of Copper ions is a winning combination.

Is Copper safe in drinking water?

Copper pipes are ideal for carrying drinking water because they are reliable, safe, and help protect water systems from potentially deadly bacteria such as legionella. In addition, when copper comes into contact with water, it can only release copper ions that benefit the proper functioning of human metabolism.

Although the concept of storing water in copper vessels arose centuries ago and has its origins in Ayurvedic medicine, it is only now gaining attention from the mainstream scientific community. In several recent scientific studies, it was determined not only that water stored in a copper vessel can have practical benefits.

In addition, recent studies note that the World Health Organization has concluded that it is safe for the body to consume up to 2mg of copper per litre of water. Research also shows that the water stored in the copper vessel for several hours absorbed less than 1/20th of that amount of copper, which is very far below safe limits.

Nevertheless, we recommend using your copper water pod in moderation and not storing in the same water for over 16 hours.

Storing a copper pod in water is also a great way to make natural alkaline water. In fact, our copper water pods are essentially natural alkaline water makers. Drinking alkaline water can be a great way to support a healthy lifestyle.

What is the green layer on Copper, and does it stop it from killing germs?

Copper combines with oxygen and other elements contained in the environment, creating compounds with variable stoichiometry. The surface layer also changes depending on the type of environment it comes into contact with over time (external or internal, maritime or rural or industrial), and this is clearly visible in architecture. For example, in the creation of oxide a copper roof becomes darker over time. Over the years, it develops into a salt that is also made up of other elements and tends to be green or green-blue in colour. This green protective surface is the so-called “patina”.

Oxidation does not limit, change or prevent the antibacterial effects of copper. In fact, some scientific studies show that oxidised surfaces of copper, can be even more effective at eliminating bacteria.

How do I clean my Copper and make it shiny again?

Look at our care instructions here for full details. A quick tip now is: The more you rub it in your hands the shinier it gets, use it or lose it.

DO NOT use any brasso or synthetic cleaners, laquer the copper or wax it to make it shiny - only use natural Ingredients such as lemon juice and salt. Many of the metal cleaning products sold in hardware shops contain chemicals that will form a layer on the surface of the copper and reduce its wonderful protection power...

Will my Copper Slice affect the strip on my credit card?

No. Copper has no magnetic properties so will not affect your card. Keeping your credit card with your phone is much more likely to affect the strip due to the tiny magnets that are inside a mobile phone…

Is Copper recyclable?

Copper is 100% recyclable. Copper can be recycled from both end-of-life products and processing waste. Almost 1/3 of the world’s copper needs are met by recycling each year, and an estimated 80% of the copper extracted since ancient times is still used today. Copper products contain an average of 35% recycled content, which significantly reduces the ecological footprint of copper. Although Italy does not have any copper mines, it has Europe's highest copper inventory, thanks to its recycling and reuse capabilities.

Is Copper a Metal or a Mineral?

Its both!. Copper is a naturally occurring metal found in soil, water, and rocks. Nutritionally, it is an essential trace mineral found in some foods and in supplements. It works to assist various enzymes that produce energy for the body, break down and absorb iron, and build red blood cells, collagen, connective tissue, and brain neurotransmitters. Copper also supports normal brain development and immune functions, and is a component of superoxide dismutase, an antioxidant enzyme that dismantles harmful oxygen “free radicals.” Copper is absorbed in the small intestine and found mainly in bones and muscle tissue.

Is drinking Copper infused water good for digestion?

Copper has properties to kill harmful bacteria and reduce inflammation in the stomach, thus making it a great remedy for acidity, gas, indigestion, ulcers, and infections. Copper even helps to detox and cleanse the stomach and to regulate the working of the kidneys and liver.

When our copper pods sit in water,  the water naturally and safely absorbs very small amounts of copper. This naturally ionizes the water and causes the water to become natural alkaline water. Which then helps to alkaline you stomach . Unhelpful gut bacteria only survives in an acidic environment.

Can I consume too much copper, if I drink water with my copper pods in all the time?

Although the concept of storing water in copper vessels arose centuries ago and has its origins in Ayurvedic medicine, it is increasingly gaining attention from the mainstream scientific community. In several, recent scientific studies, it was determined that water stored in a copper vessel can have practical benefits.

In addition, recent studies note that the World Health Organization has concluded that it is safe for the body to consume up to 2mg of copper per litre of water. Our research shows that water  infused with 3 copper pods for up to 10hrs maximum registers 0.2mg of copper in 1 litre of water.

How long does it take to create alkaline water?

Water stored with copper pods will become increasingly alkaline the longer the pods remain in the water, and the speed and degree of the alkalinization process will depend on various environmental factors, including the temperature of the water and its original pH level. In general, the natural alkalinization process will occur a bit faster if the water is at room temperature or slightly warmer.

We suggest storing water with your copper pod in overnight for 10 hours, for the most beneficial effect s store outside of the fridge.

What does Copper infused water taste like?

It tastes great – fresh, clean and pure! Although some people expect the water to taste metallic, it does not. Copper pods stored in water will absorb the beneficial health quantities of copper ions. However the water doesn't absorb enough copper to dramatically change the taste of the water.

What exactly are copper peptides? And what do they have to do with aging?

They are small fragments of protein that bind with copper – which is found in trace amounts throughout the body’s cells. When these peptides are at work, they encourage blood vessel growth, help promote skin regeneration, stimulate collagen, and boost antioxidant activities.

Essentially, copper acts as a conveyer that carries nourishing, restorative proteins to the skin. When there’s not enough copper in the body to carry out this work, the visible signs of aging become more obvious.
