The Inside Story
We are Lia and Caroline, two women who found ourselves in Bali when the pandemic of 2020 hit. We were here in search of a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle and then from nowhere came this invisible virus, Covid-19. After months of using and disposing of plastic bottles of hand sanitiser, we decided enough was enough. We needed something that wasn’t just effective for the humans, but would be good for the planet while keeping us healthy. It turned out it could be beautiful too.
And so, 29 Ore was born.
The journey began with an inquiry. What did our ancestors do before plastic? A simple question with, it turns out, a rather simple solution. Copper. As far back as the Ancient Egyptians, it has been used as an antibacterial, cleaning our water from pathogens, being used for surgical tools, to cooking utensils.
So, why isn’t everyone using it already, we asked? Put simply, the purity and sourcing of the copper is key. We set forth to find the best and most effective copper in the world, and to partner with the most integral of sources. After much research, our first copper hand sanitizer was born; a handcrafted, 99% pure copper credit card which you can rub in your hands to successfully kill pathogens and bacteria. It easily slides in and out of your wallet and it turns out, really works. Science proved it.
It’s also a great conversation starter, and within months the real power of Copper started to show itself. Friends and family were open to our experiments - what else could this magical copper ‘slice’ do? We had a hunch that this mineral is much more than a hand sanitizer, it could be a miracle cure.
Living in Bali, we encounter surfers with reef cuts, bloody scrapes from motorbike accidents, infected mosquito bites, and mystery wounds that won’t go away. We offered our copper slice to the wounded who, with open minds, would tape it to their bodies, and time and time again we saw the results - infections due to bacteria were healing miraculously quickly. You name it, our slice was there, for its antibacterial properties, but also as we discovered, for its collagen-stimulating wound healing properties.
So the SURVIVAL SLICE and our patented ‘Copper Plasters’ (plasters=band-aids) were born. Smaller, thinner, more flexible, and with a comfortable strap for stability, offering the same amount of life long Copper punch just in a more manageable size. You name it our slice was there, for its antibacterial properties, but more than that for its collagen stimulating wound healing properties.
Our experience so far drove us deeper into research - scientific papers, articles, and podcasts - everywhere it seemed, Copper just kept on revealing its incredibly versatile power. We realized that this journey of discovery was not over. If it works so well on the outside, what about the inside?
Indeed, we need more Copper in our bodies. The soil is depleted of minerals after decades of pesticides, our food supply methods are also removing the copper from the system and then on top of that, many medications are blocking copper from being absorbed into our bodies. Our ways of life have led to an internal imbalance. This unsung mineral Copper is typically located in all tissues of the body. It is needed for the fundamental production of energy, formation of red blood cells and antioxidant action to protect cells against free radical damage. Yet, most of us are lacking in it. However there is a movement, and people are waking up to this; how do we get more Copper?
And so, the PODS were born.
