METAL CRAFTSMAN

Paul

Paul is a natural peoples person, known to many as Mr Motivator. He trained (as many Indonesians have) in Hospitality, but in the early 80s found himself working in Metals. He learned in the foundries on Java and after many years of metal finishing, trained through the government in Pewter casting. We found Paul completely by accident – and what a find he was. He has been so patient and brings his belief in people and his spirituality to every Copper Pod conversation. He has a team of 24 people, who he enjoys working with. His 6 children have followed separate paths, but for him family is everything, so whenever he can, he goes into the mountains with them. To walk in Nature, talk about the wild fruits and poisonous berries and share in everything the tropical jungle offers.

COSMETIC FORMULATOR

Bean

A lifetime adventurer turned health & nutritional expert, Bean now applies her extensive studies of the health sciences to help hundreds of clients.  As a mother of two boys, athlete, coach and concerned consumer, Bean began formulating truly non-toxic skin care products for her family and close friends. After two years of experimenting with formulas and achieving a distinction in a natural cosmetics diploma, Bean launched her first skin care range for spas and beauty salons. As Bean develops more and more products she remains committed to an approach that is 100% in harmony with nature and the people who trust her.

PACKAGING DESIGNER

Dian

Dian is an independent artist, designer and creator. She dropped out of university due to its mis-education in the product design industry, in terms of its lack of sustainability design and environmental consciousness. She now freelances with an everyday mission to create something that is sustainable, functional and reflects our coexistence with nature and the environment – whether it be for art, stationery, packaging, fashion or lifestyle.

JEWELLERY ARTISAN

Made

We have been working with local jeweller and craftsmen Made to create the Copper Pebble, Copper Slice and Copper Pod. We have learnt together along the way with the ups and downs of casting in Copper (which is no mean feat, believe us). Made learnt his craft from his father – from the age of 12 Made was carving in wood, horn and bone. What makes Made happy is health and making a successful business so he can help the people in his village, and his friends. Observing this, we are working hard to make community a big part of our future too.

SEAMSTRESS

Weni

Weni is a 38 years old single mother who lives on Bali. She has a 3 year old son, Omah, who lives on Java with her parents. Her relationship with fabric came by accident, while a colleague at the boutique shop she worked at went on maternity leave. She had no training, but loved it immediately and found that she learnt quickly. Weni has made all our pebble bags and natural face clothes. Ideally we would like to help Weni earn enough money on Java with her son so she doesn’t have to be hundreds of miles away from her son and family.
